Is this you?
Monday and Tuesday were “perfect” days of eating. You had a solid breakfast, ate a healthy lunch and dinner, and avoided all snacks at the office and before bed. You didn’t drink any alcohol, and got your workouts in.
Wednesday was good too, but you started to feel like, “Ugh, I’m tired of eating healthy. I really want a burger for dinner.” or “I really want a glass of wine after work.” or “Ugh, I’m tired, maybe I won’t workout tomorrow.” But you still got it all in.
Enter Thursday… “I ate so healthy all week! I’m just going to have a couple drinks after work.” Your food was still pretty good though! Maybe you got in a workout. Maybe not. It was a busy day at work.
Hello, Friday! You did pretty well all week, eating and drinking healthy 80-90% of the time, and you even ate well all day! Then it’s dinner out with friends / partner, and “let’s share a bunch of small plates and have a couple drinks. It is Friday after all!” Workout? You didn’t have time for that.
Well, Saturday is your off-day! So… breakfast burrito for breakfast, maybe you skip lunch since you ate breakfast late, and then dinner and drinks at night! Oh and dessert! “Yay off day!” Maybe you got a Saturday late morning workout in, maybe not.
You slept in on Sunday because… well, Sunday. Didn’t go to the gym. Had brunch with friends that was a larger-than-you-would-eat-at-home plate of (fill in the blank) and maybe some drinks. Later on you prep your food for next week’s clean eating, but at dinner time you don’t feel like eating it (“that food is for weekdays and I need to be prepped for tomorrow!”) so you order delivery.
And then it’s, “Ah, I gotta get back to my clean eating and workouts tomorrow! Why aren’t I making more progress in losing weight?!”
If you feel seen, you are in a lose-weight - gain-weight cycle.
